In his quartet, Victor Belinda celebrates groove, improvisation, and freedom. The music, inspired by a blend of New Orleans vibes and past collaborations in which Victor has participated around the world – including in Uganda, Colombia, and Iraq –  lifts the soul and sets heads nodding, feet dancing.

 

The absence of a harmonic anchor is no omission, but a deliberate choice – a space for the soloists and bassist to wander freely, to chase the muse of the moment without the weight of fixed form.

 

Victor Belinda’s compositions bear the mark of a seasoned storyteller – rich in emotion, alive with contrast, and wide open to the unique voices of his fellow musicians. Each piece is a canvas where virtuosity meets vulnerability.

 

Born from a deep love of experimentation and fed by diverse inspirations, the program unfolds with eclectic flair. And though the music may at times twist and turn through intricate paths, it never strays from its heart – the pulse, the rhythm, the groove.
